★PTA has started a Sports Program Fund to help support and sustain the basketball and soccer programs here at Pioneer. Due to limited resources, Pioneer’s sports programs for 4th & 5th graders are no longer being funded by PAL (Police Activities League). If you or your business would like to support the sports programs at Pioneer, please consider a donation or sponsorship. Checks can be made out to Pioneer PTA with memo: Sports Program, or you can make a donation HERE. These funds will go towards tournament expenses and bus transportation to neighboring schools. Please email Mrs. Brown directly at Nancy.Brown@evergreenps.org for questions.

★Pioneer’s Rock & Read Event: On Wednesday, April 19th, Pioneer will be celebrating reading by having students and adults rocking (in a rocking chair) and reading. We hope to have the rocking chairs filled all day! We will have 6 rocking chairs available. (2 for primary grades, two for intermediate grades, and 2 for adults). Students will come to the library during their time slot and read and rock for 15 minutes. Participating students will receive a certificate and a small prize or treat. Adult readers can be staff, parents or volunteers (background check must be on file for non-staff). If you would like to be a part of our Rock & Read event, sign up for a 15 minute time slot HERE!

District-Wide Bookmark Contest! Teacher-Librarians across Evergreen have collaborated to create a district-wide bookmark contest on the theme The Joy of Reading. The contest is open for student entries from March 1 - April 10. Pioneer will choose 10 entries from the submissions to send on to the 2nd round at the district level (5 from grades K-2 and 5 from grades 3-5). A panel of judges will then choose a selection of finalists for online voting. Online voting for the finalists will take place April 23-29 during School Library Week. The top three vote getters will have copies of their bookmark produced for all students to choose one and keep. Mr. Suenkel will promote the contest during library time and have copies of the entry forms available. Students and families can also print entry forms at home using this link. Thank you and happy reading!
